Go Car-Free On September 22nd
The Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) region celebrates Car-Free MSP (inspired by World Car Free Day) on Tuesday, September 22, when our cars stay in the garage and for one glorious day, thousands of neighbors get moving on bikes or by foot, scooter, transit, or even telework. September 22, 2020 is also the rescheduled date for Bike To Work Day.
The pandemic shifted reality as people experienced a rapid change from office work to telework. Fully 66% of US employees are no longer commuting. We’ve heard quieter streets, breathed cleaner air, and enjoyed a healthy surge of bicyclists and pedestrians. We’ve saved money at the pump and at the parking ramp. Our hour-long bumper-to-bumper commutes disappeared. Still, many of us are still commuting or driving for errands or appointments when more sustainable options are available.
Let’s show what’s possible on a bigger scale and live entirely car-free for 24 hours on Tuesday, September 22
Go Car-Free, Win An E-Bike!
Register today! We’ll send you a brief survey on September 22 to ask about your Car-Free day. Submit the survey and be entered in a drawing to win a shiny new City Commuter e-bike from Pedego.
We’ll track driving miles saved due to remote working, biking, walking and same-household carpooling. Your participation in Car-Free MSP will result in important, tangible outcomes for our region. T
