Driving alone to work downtown can be a pain – sustainable transportation options can help

Sustainable commuting and active transportation can help you add health, wealth, and fun to your commute. Whether you are fully in-person or hybrid, work a varied schedule or a set one, there are options that can work for you – and Move Minneapolis can help you navigate all of them.

Sustainable commuting includes transit, carpooling, biking, walking and car-sharing – or a combination of options. Transporting more people to a destination and sharing resources reduces traffic congestion, improves air quality, lowers emissions, and lowers commuter costs. Minneapolis has built infrastructure that makes sustainable commuting efficient with park & ride lots, bus-only and E-ZPass lanes, mobility hubs, and a Bus Rapid Transit network of fast and frequent routes.

Active transport includes walking, cycling, rolling, scooting, and other human powered modes of travel to work, school, parks, cafes, shops, a friend’s house or other destinations. Catching a bus or train also involves active travel when walking or cycling to and from stops, stations, home and destinations. Active transportation benefits your health, our community, and the environment!
