Filled with energy and community — what a month it’s been!
Bike Month 2025 was a busy one for Move Minneapolis. Read on to learn what we were up to, what we heard, and what’s next.

On May 1st, Move Minneapolis hosted a free bike clinic at North Loop Green with mechanics from Freewheel Bike. Despite the cold and rainy weather, over 40 bikes were made ride-ready for the month ahead. A few days later, Freewheel Bike opened their newest (and closest to downtown) location with a celebration organized by the East Bank Neighborhoods Partnership. The event included group rides, a community BBQ, and Move Minneapolis was on hand to provide resources and information on all of our Bike Month happenings.

On May 7, Move Minneapolis teamed up with our friends across the river, Move Minnesota, for a Twin Cities-wide celebration. Group rides from both Minneapolis and St Paul converged at Dual Citizen Brewing for a lively gathering that featured secure bike parking from Cyclehoop, a taco bar from La Tapatia, remarks from each organization’s Executive Director, and a festive atmosphere all around.

Bike to Work Week Was A Whirlwind – Literally!
It had it all — sun, rain, 90° heat, a 40° cooldown, and a tornado watch for downtown Minneapolis! The Move team kept rolling and participated in events at several downtown employers and properties.
At US Bank Plaza, property manager Hines hosted a tabling event where we shared resources on bike commuting. Meanwhile, Hines staff held a raffle for amazing prizes such as bike shop gift cards, helmets, rain gear, and more.

Hennepin Healthcare, one of the largest downtown employers, collaborated with Move Minneapolis on an outdoor event that featured free quick bike repair from BikeMN, complimentary Johnny Pops, and resources from Move Minneapolis. BikeMN also led a group ride, with Move Minneapolis’ support, showcasing low-stress bike routes around the Hennepin Healthcare campus.

The team also tabled at two Transwestern properties: 50 South 6th and 60 South 6th. In case you hadn’t heard — a representative from 60 South 6th will participate in our upcoming secure bike parking webinar!

To wrap up Bike to Work Week, Move Minneapolis rode in on one of four city-led group rides to join the downtown Bike to Work Day celebration on Friday, May 16th. We also hosted a table at the event to share the resources we offer on commuting downtown.
A Brand New Bike Room

To close out this eventful month, we celebrated the opening of a brand new bike room in the Young Quinlan building — home to Move Minneapolis. At the ribbon cutting event, celebratory remarks were made by the 614 Company (the property manager) and fellow tenants including the Minneapolis Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Minneapolis Downtown Council & DID.
Access to the bike room is free for Young Quinlan tenants, and includes a pump and fix-it stand. A major thank you to 614 Company and Young Quinlan for leading the way with this new amenity!
What We Heard and What’s Next
Throughout the month, people told us what they love about biking: enjoying more happiness and less stress, integrating physical activity into their commute, saving time, building community, reducing their environmental impact, and saving money.

People also shared their barriers to biking: distracted drivers, unsafe bike lanes, long commutes, complex schedules, route uncertainty, and bike theft concerns.
The Move Minneapolis team is working to reduce or remove or reduce barriers where we can for those interested in biking for transportation. We offer many services to help, including:
- Customized Consultations for people commuting downtown
- Educational webinars on timely topics (including a Secure Bike Parking webinar June 4th – register here)
- NEW! Try It Tours for downtown employers/organizations and their teams
We also elevate individual experiences, sharing insights with those in charge of our transportation system so that they receive this feedback and can act on it.
All of our work, during Bike Month and beyond, is done in support of our vision of a future where everyone can make transportation choices that contribute to a healthy, sustainable and vibrant Minneapolis region.
