2023 Transportation Summit: Envisioning Downtown Streets That Prioritize People
November 15, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Downtown is the epicenter of change in our region. This event will create a proactive vision, changing the narrative of our streets as humanizing public spaces.
The downtown transportation system has largely been developed to enable 9-5 commutes in single occupancy vehicles. As downtowns across the world rethink how and who they serve, this event centers transportation as a lens to facilitate health, safety, joy and vibrancy.
Emerging from a culture shift in what is possible downtown, join us to share your lived experience and imagination for people centered transportation.
This is a free event! Vegan and gluten free breakfast will be provided by Food Gallery. Register early: seats are limited.
What to expect:
- Overview of examples & elements from around the world
- Panel discussion with local experts
- Workshop engagement envisioning downtown spaces with local examples, small group discussion and artistic representation
Featured Speakers:
- Lesley Kandaras – General Manager, Metro Transit
- Joo Hee Pomplun – Executive Director, The Alliance
- Kyle Shelton – Director, Center for Transportation Studies
- Neil Reardon – Vice President, ESG Architecture & Design
