About Us

Move Minneapolis is the forward-facing name of the Downtown Minneapolis Transportation Management Organization (TMO), a 501(c)4 non-profit organization founded in 1991 through City Council action. The TMO advocates for a sustainable transit and transportation system that supports a growing and vital downtown Minneapolis. The TMO is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of representatives from the downtown business and residential community, the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, and Metro Transit, who act in an advisory capacity to Minneapolis City Council.

The TMO promotes sustainable transportation – mass transit, carpooling, car-sharing, biking and walking – through an outreach and education program that targets downtown workers, residents, and visitors. ┬áPrior to October 2015, the TMO operated a commuter resource store in the skyway level of the US Bank Plaza under the name Commuter Connection. In October 2015, the TMO rebranded it’s outreach and education program to Move Minneapolis in conjunction with a relocation of their offices to Minneapolis Visitor Information on Nicollet (MVI). The MVI is made possible through a partnership between Centerpoint Energy, Meet Minneapolis, and the TMO.

With a new name, brand, and location, the organization is better suited to help people save time and money on their commute, reduce traffic congestion, improve downtown livability, and benefit the environment.

Move Minneapolis is made possible by a federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant in partnership with the United States Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Council, the City of Minneapolis and the Downtown community.
