Move Minneapolis – Transportation Management Organization (TMO) is a 501(c)4 non-profit organization and was founded in 1991. It is governed by a board of directors comprised of representatives from the downtown business and residential community, and has partnerships with the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, MnDOT and Metro Transit.
The organization promotes sustainable transportation – mass transit, carpooling, car-sharing, biking and walking – through an outreach and education program that targets downtown workers, residents, and visitors. Formerly known as Commuter Connection, in 2015, the TMO rebranded its outreach and education program to Move Minneapolis in conjunction with a relocation of their offices to Minneapolis Visitor Information on Nicollet (MVI). The MVI is made possible through a partnership between Centerpoint Energy, Meet Minneapolis, and the TMO.
Move Minneapolis is made possible by a federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant in partnership with the United States Department of Transportation, the Metropolitan Council, the City of Minneapolis and the Downtown community.
